With these factors in place, you know that this restaurant will be a big hit, so you make a reservation for opening night.
Design is not simple. At every step of the process there are dozens of activities you could be doing.
Exploratory Research Techniques
When you need to learn about the problem space, you have a binder full of exploratory research techniques to employ. When you start transitioning your research data into an analysis document, you need to decide how to capture everything you learned. When it’s time to create draft solutions, you can choose any number of tools and approaches to capture your thinking.
Design has a long and rich history. Humanity has been creating and ‘designing’ tools/products/systems for people since before we were able to record it.
Design as we have come to think of it started to take hold in the early 1900s, and has grown by leaps and bounds since then. Many people, systems, and events have shaped us and have helped us grow as a practice.
While I had almost a decade of experience and lots of good examples in my portfolio, I was struggling to get job offers. When I did get feedback about my interviews, I generally got the same comment: “We are looking for someone with better visual design skills.”
Design is hard. We put a lot of effort into coming up with concepts.
We work diligently to identify user goals and support them in the product. We create animations that help guide and inform our users. We design in little touches to add delight for our users. We put our heart and soul into our work.
